Camping with swim diapers

The swim diaper is very well adjustable through the various snaps and fits perfectly around the legs.
Son now 15 months old, first time really swimming in pool.
As a parent I was a bit worried if he would defecate, but fortunately that was not the case.

How exactly does this diaper work? As soon as I put it on with him and go swimming it completely fills up with water.
Would it ever have had or done anything to it and it all flows out, right? (So far it has had a clean diaper every time)
