Boosters
A booster is a loose insert that you put in the resuseable diapers to increase the absorption of your nappies. This makes it possible to use a longer cleaning time than without boosters. You can view the absorption tables to compare the boosters. At the bottom of this page you will find tips on how to combine different materials to reduce the risk of leaks.
Boosters | Inserts for reuseable diapers
A booster is a loose insert that you put in the reuseable diapers to increase the absorption of your diapers. This makes it possible to use a longer cleaning time than without boosters. There are many different boosters. They differ in material composition and size, so that they all have a different absorption. You can view the absorption tables to compare the boosters properly. You can sort the tables by what you find important. The absorption tables of boosters can be found at the bottom of this page, just above the detailed explanation of the tables.
Materials
Some boosters consist of one material. Other boosters are composed by combining multiple materials. The most common materials are microfibre, cotton, bamboo and hemp. The main properties of these materials are listed below.
Microfiber
Absorbs very quickly but not much. Retains moisture less well than cotton or bamboo (rather pressure leakage). Dries quickly (useful if you have little drying space / options).
(Organic) Cotton
Cotton absorbs on average (not necessarily super much, not necessarily little), but quickly. Cotton stays good for a long time. You can wash cotton hotter (often up to 90 degrees). Please check the washing label for this.
Bamboo
Absorbs more than cotton, but absorbs slightly less quickly than cotton. Feels nice.
Hemp
Doesn't absorb quickly, but absorbs a lot. Has a long drying time.
Tip! For many children, the combination of fast absorbing on top, with slower absorbing and better retention on the bottom works best. In practice, this means microfiber or (organic) cotton on top and bamboo or hemp on the bottom.
