Kijani
Kijani
Kijani is a unique and social business in Kampala, Uganda. Diapers with a difference. Diapers that are just as unique as your little one, high quality and ethically produced.
Unemployment amongst women in Uganda is 58% and Kijani wants to do something about that. Empowerment is one of the core goals of this amazing company. The women that make the diapers get a proper job when working for Kijani, with salaries high above the market standard. They work in a good work environment and with fair working conditions.
Another core value is accessibility. Kijani works with other organizations to make diapers affordable and accessible for Ugandan families. By giving access to cloth diapers the household hygiene increases, which leads to better health for babies and young children.
Staff members sew the diapers locally and use Kitenge fabric that is offered on local markets in the city. This means that prints are always unique and limited. Every season, a few PUL prints and a few Kitenge prints are released, of which the latter comes from the local market in Kampala. This makes the Kitenge prints by Kijani always authentically African.
The cotton that is used to make the diapers is also grown and spun locally. This goes for the cotton in the absorbent layers of their inserts and boosters and for the cotton in the kitenge fabric.
Nappy’s.ey carries the full range of Kijani cloth diapers. We have SIO inserts, boosters and covers in three different sizes, from newborn to adult sizes. Also, we have pull up diapers in various sizes. Kijani pull up diapers are very suitable for older children that are not nighttime potty trained (yet).
