The sizing is approximate and depends on the build of a child. To determine the right size you need to measure the waist circumference, just below the ribs and above the hips at the narrowest point. The cm's shown for the waist circumference indicate the swimming trunks at the loosest size, when the elastic is completely relaxed. The trunks can then still stretch quite a bit. If your child's waist circumference is 50 cm, you need size 6-8 years. Size 8-10 years will then still be so loose that it will not do its job properly. If you measure 52 centimeters, you can choose size 8-10 years. This will then still be loose and have to be put on with the toggles on the stomach. In most cases, size 6-8 years will also fit.
