Charity
When purchasing from Nappy’s.nl you automatically support a charitable cause!
We, at Nappy’s.nl, are huge fans of cloth diapers - you had probably figured that out by now. Cloth diapering is not only fun, but in many ways also the best way to diaper a child. For the children as well as money wise. We have decided that the Nappy’s.nl diapers should also be available for people who cannot afford diapers for whatever reason. That is why we put aside a part of our turnover to save up for cloth diapers and/or similar products for a good cause. Nappy’s for Nappies!
The charity for 2022 is the Kabanda Hospital Foundation. This organization is setting up an incubator ward at the Kabanga hospital. This hospital is located in rural Tanzania, on the border with Burundi. The hospital is primarily a referral hospital and did not have a special incubator unit. Newborn babies were nursed in the obstetrics ward and often even in the delivery rooms. They couldn’t always be monitored here and no special equipment was available, so this led to poorer health outcomes for these little ones. Fundraising started at the end of 2021 to create a separate incubator ward and to train nurses for this special group of children who need extra help. There is now a good basis of equipment and the doors of the department can almost open.
Many mothers in this area cannot afford diapers for their babies. Disposable diapers are often even more expensive than here in the Netherlands and washable diapers available on the local market are of poor quality. Often just plastic pants without an insert. Many babies are wrapped in khanga or kitenge cloths. This absorbs little and also does not contain a water-repellent later. At the beginning of 2023, we will therefore send as many washable diapers for the little ones as possible to this hospital, so that the babies can lie in fine, well-functioning washable diapers. The diapers will remain the property of the hospital so that diapers are always available for the newborn babies. You automatically help with your purchase!
In 2021 we saved €1.427,16 for the Poverty Fund Foundation from Rosmalen. We donated more than 100 pieces of reusable menstrual pads for this foundation.
At the end of 2020, we sent off more than 330 diapers, 64 covers, a bunch of fasteners and various accessories to Beirut. Over there, they can use all the help possible. Due to the devastating explosion disposable diapers have become extremely expensive. For many parents in the epi-center disposable diapers are not affordable anymore. Babies are wearing leather pieces of cloth and plastic bags on their bottoms. Since the shipping containers for Beirut were to be filled up at the end of 2020 already, we decided to round up our charity program of the year earlier than usual. On November 30th, €953.56 was saved up. Together with the €80 of donations and the expected savings over December, we brought the total to €1111.47. Many customers also kindly donated flat diapers, pre-folds, Snappi’s and other products. This too went to the Amsterdam harbor. Hopefully, many families in Beirut can be helped with our goods. They will be instructed on site and helped to start cloth diapering their children.
In 2019, we saved up €838.94 for Agape Family Ministries in Grabouw, South-Africa. This foundation has a home for children with multiple disabilities, a foster home/ orphanage, a special needs school and a pre-primary school. There are 41 wheelchair bound children in the home for children with multiple disabilities. They get physiotherapy and occupational therapy to improve their living conditions. A large part of the children are incontinent and wear diapers. Most of them will not stop wearing diapers, so they will depend on them for a long time. Thanks to our fundraiser they can start wearing cloth diapers in 2020. Comfortable for the children, and financially beneficial for Agape.
In 2018, we saved up €700.42 for the Amara Foundation. This foundation helps parentless, underprivileged and disabled children in Kisumu, Kenya. The foundation provides daycare, education, therapies and necessary tools for these children. Among others, Amara Foundation supports 16 disabled children between 3 and 14 years old. These children get therapy and many of them live in an institution, where they are cared for. A few of them also go to school. Diapers are needed for these children. Currently, they are wearing disposable diapers, but that creates so much waste for the school. Apart from that, disposable diapers are very expensive and hardly affordable. In March 2019, a large package went to Kenya.
In 2017, we had saved €533.51 for the foundation “Je mag er zijn”. This foundation has several clothing storerooms across The Netherlands where foster parents can get clothes, prams, car seats, toys and other necessities for free. Early 2018, two large boxes with cloth diapers and some toys went to “Je mag er zijn”.
The final score for 2016 was €414.52. This allowed us to send a large package to children’s home Coram Deo Place of Care in South-Africa, in January. This contained many many diapers, boosters, liners, laundry detergent and laundry net bags. And a couple of lovely toys! In addition, a smaller package went to Stichting Babyspullen in The Netherlands. Just because we had some things left and because there are also Dutch families who could make good use of a cloth diaper package. There was enough for full time cloth diapering, so at least one Dutch family does not have to worry about being able to afford disposable diapers every month.
In 2015, we saved €176.03 for children’s home Elolam, including the donation the total was €207.03. For this amount, diapers and boosters were bought.
Do you happen to have diapers, boosters or other cloth diaper essentials laying around that you do not use anymore? These are very welcome and will be sent to the charity cause of this year, together with the purchased diapers. Donating money is also possible, please contact us for more information.
